VCU Cheerleading is known for being a great "crowd team". The cheerleaders enjoy performing for the crowd and leading them in supporting our teams. We always get great responses from the Rams fans in helping cheer our teams to victory.

The program has grown over recent years and so has the talent, as a result, this year both teams will be competing at the NCA College National Championships, April 8-10, in Daytona Beach, Florida.

COED
The coed squad (8-10 couples) cheers for all men's basketball home games, tournaments, as well as makes special appearances. All of the coed athletes work stunts and tumbling at practices as well as cheers, sidelines and jumps. Practice is 3 days a week for approximately 2 hours per practice. Strength and conditioning is also part of practice.

2010-2011
COED TRYOUTS

Tryouts for the 2010-11 Coed Squad will be held in conjunction with the All-Girl Squad tryouts on Saturday, May 8th from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Main Gym in Franklin Street Gym (817 W. Franklin St.)

Requirements:
All of the girls on the coed squad will be expected to stunt with guys in traditional coed stunts. This means weight and size do matter. While coed stunting experience isn't necessary, previous flying experience helps. Strong gymnasts without cheer experience are encouraged to tryout because of the easy transition to cheer. Guys without cheer experience need not shy away; guys pick up on cheering very quickly.

Stunts: hands extension, hands liberty
Tumbling: standing back handspring or round off back handspring is the minimum

ALL-GIRL
The all-girl team (20 members) cheers for all women's basketball home games, tournaments and a portion of the men's home schedule, as well as makes special appearances.

The all-girl program has gotten stronger and stronger since its inception. The program is now competitive on the national level and looking to build on its successes.
