RICHMOND, Va. - The VCU field hockey controlled most of the day’s action, but could not overcome Saint Joseph’s in a 2-0 loss Saturday at Cary Street Field.
Sophomore Marle van Dessel (Oisterwijk, The Netherlands) led the attack for the Black and Gold with seven shots, including five on goal, but wasn’t able to put the Rams on the board.
VCU lead Saint Joseph’s in shots, 13-8, and corners, 13-7, but couldn’t finish off the Hawks.
Saint Joseph’s was held scoreless for over 50 minutes until Anne Schreuders put in a rebound at the 54:13 mark. Schreuders added a goal with no time remaining.
The Rams, now 3-2, look to improve that record when they return to action on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. against Penn at Cary Street Field. |
