RAMS TOP RADFORD, 5-0, IN SCRIMMAGE RICHMOND, Va. – The 2008 Virginia Commonwealth University Field Hockey team impressed in its first live action of the fall and cruised to a 5-0 victory over Radford in a season-opening scrimmage at Cary Street Field. Five different players scored a goal for VCU, including senior Alaina Vernetti (Fredericksburg, Va.), who put to Rams on the board 17:10 into the match. Sophomore Marle van Dessel (Oisterwijk, The Netherlands) and junior Lindsay Jones (Springfield, Va.) each provided two assists.
