GRIFFIN, NADEAU NAMED TO VGCA ALL-STATE TEAM
7-16-10

RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University graduating seniors Lanto Griffin (Blacksburg, Va.) and Vincent Nadeau (Penhook, Va.) were named All-State by the Virginia Golf Coaches Association (VGCA) Friday.

Griffin earned a spot on first team for the second time in as many seasons. The Blacksburg, Va. native led the Rams with a 72.97 stroke average and registered four top-five finishes. Griffin capped his outstanding VCU career with a fifth place finish at the NCAA Gold Mountain Regional in Bremerton, Wash. in June. Additionally, Griffin was fourth at the University of Maryland Intercollegiate, third at the Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, Ga. and second at N.C. State’s Wolfpack Intercollegiate.

A two-time All-Colonial Athletic Association pick, Griffin had 16 top-five finishes in four seasons as a Ram.

Monday’s Second Team All-State honor is Nadeau’s first from the VGCA. Nadeau averaged 73.59 strokes per round in 2009-10 and placed in the top 20 in seven of 12 events. Like Griffin, he saved his best golf for the NCAA Gold Mountain Regional, where he placed eighth.

Griffin and Nadeau account for two of the three CAA golfers on Monday’s All-State teams. Eric Onesi of Old Dominion also earned a first team nod.
