GRIFFIN NAMED CAA CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University senior Lanto Griffin (Blacksburg, Va.) was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Griffin placed third after finishing 4-under par at the rain-shortened Brickyard Collegiate Championship at the Brickyard at Riverside, in Macon, Ga. Oct. 11-12.

VCU placed fifth in the 15-team field as Griffin negotiated the 7,175-yard layout in 69 strokes during Sunday’s opening round. He carded a 1-under 71 the following day for a two-round total of 140. It was Griffin’s 12th career top-five finish.

In 11 rounds this Fall, Griffin has shot par or better seven times. His 71.82 stroke average leads the Rams.

The Rams conclude Fall play at the UNC Greensboro Bridgestone Collegiate Oct. 24-25 in Greensboro, N.C.
