MAYNOR EARNS TWO HONORS FOR PROLIFIC WEEK

RICHMOND, Va. – It’s difficult to ignore a player when he averages nearly 30 points per game and the Colonial Athletic Association, as well as midmajority.com, could not.
VCU senior Eric Maynor (Raeford, N.C.), who recorded a statistically eye-popping week for the Rams, was named CAA Player of the Week, as well as Mid-Majority Baller of the Week Monday.
In three games, Maynor averaged 28.0 points, 4.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals. He shot 56 percent (29-of-52) from the field, as well as 44 percent (11of-25) from 3-point range.
On Tuesday, Nov. 25, the 6-3 VCU guard, poured in a career-high 35 points, including six 3-pointers, in a 93-90 overtime loss at East Carolina. Of his 35 points, 27 came in the second half and overtime.
Maynor added 18 points, five assists and four rebounds for the Rams when they tipped New Mexico, 67-55, on Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Cancun Challenge. The following night, Maynor dumped 31 points, including 23 in the second half, on Vanderbilt in a 71-66 loss.
Through six games, Maynor, a 2008 finalist for the Bob Cousy Award and reigning CAA Player of the Year, is averaging 24.5 points per game, sixth in the country. In addition, Maynor has recorded 5.7 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals while shooting 53 percent (52-of-98) from the field.
Maynor and VCU will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 4 when they host Western Michigan at the Alltel Pavilion at the Stuart C. Siegel Center at 7:30 p.m. |
