VCU TENNIS HONORED BY ITA FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS

RICHMOND, Va. – Both of Virginia Commonwealth University’s tennis programs were named All-Academic Teams by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Tuesday, while four Rams received individual accolades.

The VCU Men’s Tennis squad was one of 42 programs to receive an All-Academic award, given to programs whose cumulative team grade-point-average is 3.20 or better.

In addition, Alex Israel, who recently exhausted his eligibility, and rising senior Emil Lindgren were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

To earn Scholar Athlete status, players must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled for at least two semesters.

Meanwhile, the VCU Women’s team was also honored as an All-Academic award winner. Recent VCU graduates Viktoria Konstantinova and Tatsiana Uvarova were also named ITA Scholar Athletes.
