WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Freshman Nicolas Vinel captured victories at singles and doubles, but it wasn’t enough to lift Virginia Commonwealth University, which fell Saturday to 21st-ranked Wake Forest, 4-2.
VCU slips to 8-3 with the loss.
Vinel, the nation’s 107th-ranked singles player, topped Andrew Brasseaux, 6-3, 6-3 on the No. 3 singles court. Earlier in the day, Vinel teamed with senior Martin Schulhauser for a 9-8 (4) triumph over Cory Parr and Jason Morgenstern at second doubles.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 18 when they travel to Norfolk, Va. to take on Old Dominion at 2 p.m.
