RICHMOND, Va. – Amine Boustani, a two-time National Coach of the Year, has joined the Virginia Commonwealth University tennis staff, Rams’ Head Coach Paul Kostin announced Monday. He will serve both VCU’s men’s and women’s teams as an assistant alongside Kostin and assistant coach Romain Ambert.
Boustani spent 14 seasons building a Division II powerhouse at Drury, located in Springfield, Mo. As the head coach of the men’s tennis program, Boustani led the Panthers to a 271-62 record, an .814 winning percentage. Drury finished the season ranked in the top six nationally each of the last nine seasons. The Panthers won at least 20 matches 10 times.
In 2008, Boustani led Drury to a 25-3 record and the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers also made four straight NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal appearances under Boustani.
A 1991 graduate of Southwest Missouri State University, Boustani was a four-time national champion as a player in his native Morocco. He also played on the country’s Davis Cup squad. |
