KOSTIN RECEIVES MID-ATLANTIC COACHING HONOR

RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University Head Tennis Coach Paul Kostin has been named the Mid Atlantic Professional Tennis Association’s (MAPTA) 2008 College Coach of the Year.
Kostin, who became just the fifth Division I coach to reach 800 career victories in 2008, has directed the VCU men’s program since 1991. He has been coaching the women’s squad the last eight seasons.
The 2000 National Coach of the Year, Kostin led both the VCU men and women to the NCAA Tournament in 2008.
The women finished 18-6 and garnered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) No. 35 ranking.
The VCU men went 19-8 and collected their 15th consecutive NCAA Tournament selection. The Rams also won their 11th Colonial Athletic Association Championship in 13 years.
