VCU’S CHARRON CAPTURES ODU INVITATIONAL SINGLES TITLE

NORFOLK, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University junior Thibaut Charron capped a productive weekend by claiming top honors in the ‘A’ singles draw at the Old Dominion Invitational Sunday.

Charron, in his second season with the Rams, topped teammate Nicolas Vinel, 6-3, 6-3 in the final. Charron was undefeated in four matches over the weekend.

Additionally, Charron and Vinel paired together and reached the ‘A’ doubles final, where they were defeated by Davy Sum and Lobos Sobotka of Campbell, 8-6 Sunday.

In other action, freshman Jordan Dyke erased an early loss in the ‘B’ singles draw by capturing three straight consolation victories.

VCU will return to fall tennis action Oct. 10-12 when it competes in the Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational.
