MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Senior Emil Lindgren and freshman Nicolas Vinel scored individual victories, but Virginia Commonwealth University dropped a 4-2 decision to Penn State Friday in the second day of the Blue Gray Classic at the Lagoon Park Tennis Center.
VCU has lost two straight to slip to 10-6 overall. Penn State is 8-6.
Lindgren pulled the Rams within 3-2 when he defeated Ryan Gormley, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 on the No. 5 court.
Earlier in the match, Vinel finished off a 6-1, 6-3 rout of Eddie Bourchier on the No. 4 court. At the time, VCU trailed 2-1.
The loss sends the Rams to a consolation match-up with league-rival William & Mary on Saturday, March 21 at 5 p.m.
