4X100 RELAY HIGHLIGHTS RAMS’ SHOWING AT NCAA REGIONALS
Relay misses finals by less than half a second

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Lining up against some of the nation’s best sprinters is tough enough, but add to it that it may be the last time you run as a collegiate athlete and it’s even harder. Seniors Jackie DeShazo (Mechanicsville, Va.) and Jason Gallo (Rochester, N.Y.) did just that and nearly made history as they were less than half a second away from not only making it into the NCAA East Regional finals, but also less than half a second away from the school record as the duo led the 4x100 relay to a stellar showing on Friday afternoon.

The veterans teamed with sophomore standout DeAngelo Wilson (Richmond, Va.) and stellar freshman Antonio Norvell (Portsmouth, Va.) to post a time of 40.73, the best showing of the season and it was just .34 seconds off the eighth and final spot in the NCAA East Regional Final for the 4x100 meter relay.

Wilson had a busy day on the track as he also ran in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash and finished in the top-25 with a time of 10.68 and completed his showing at the regional with a top-20 showing in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.29.

Gallo joined Wilson in the 200-meter preliminaries as the veteran earned a spot in the top-25 with a time of 21.53, topping the likes of many ACC competitors.

The Black and Gold will look for Wilson and Norvell to help lead a talented, young roster in 2008-2009 and try and fill the void left by stellar seniors like DeShazo and Gallo.
