This exercise is regarded by many Strength Coaches as being the best lower back, hamstring, and glute exercise.  The reverse hyper allows you to train all these muscles in unison, which is important because the posterior chain muscles are the same muscles responsible for running and jumping.

The belt squat machine is the best way to perform a loaded squat movement without placing the load on your spine.  Athletes with upper body injuries who utilize the belt squat are able to recover faster while maintaining strength and power in the muscles of the lower body and torso.
