KVAPILOVA POWERS VCU ATTACK AT JAMES MADISON

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Freshman Michala Kvapilova (Liberec, Czech Republic) blasted 11 kills to lead Virginia Commonwealth University to a 3-0 (25-16, 29-27, 25-21) sweep over James Madison Saturday night at Sinclair Gymnasium.

Kvapilova hit .292 on the evening to spark VCU (13-6, 2-1 CAA), which defeated JMU for the third time in four meetings. James Madison fell to 6-13 overall and 0-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association with the loss.

Junior Kelsie Clegg (Boise, Idaho) added six kills and collected four blocks for the Rams, while sophomore Courtney Hott (Fredericksburg, Va.) chipped in with five kills and four blocks.

Danielle Erb had 10 kills and 11 digs to pace the Dukes.

VCU was active up front, and out-blocked JMU, 6-2. The Rams also limited the Dukes to a .087 hitting percentage in the match.

VCU returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 7 when they host George Washington at 6 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
