ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Freshman Kristin Boyd (Wilmington, N.C.) ripped six kills for Virginia Commonwealth University, but seventh-ranked Michigan overwhelmed the Rams, 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 26-24) Saturday at the Michigan Challenge at Cliff Keen Arena.

Boyd was one of few bright spots for VCU (7-3), which was limited to a .091 hitting percentage. Senior Ivana Rich (Cumberland, Va.) kicked in five kills and two blocks for the Rams.

Michigan was led by senior Juliana Paz, who hit .579 with 12 kills, 11 digs and eight service aces.

VCU returns to action later Saturday evening, when it meets Morehead State, the two-time defending Ohio Valley Conference champion, at 5 p.m.
