ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Freshman Michala Kvapilova (Liberec, Czech Republic) recorded 13 kills to lead Virginia Commonwealth University, but Morehead State won a hard-fought, 3-1 (32-30, 18-25, 25-23, 25-12) battle at the Michigan Challenge Saturday at Cliff Keen Arena.

VCU slips to 7-3 with the loss, while Morehead State improves to 7-3.

In addition to her team-best 13 kills, Kvapilova hit .281 and booked 10 digs and eight total blocks. Additionally, senior Ivana Rich (Cumberland, Va.) added nine kills and eight blocks and freshman Kristin Boyd (Wilmington, N.C.) registered eight kills and seven blocks.

Holly Evans and Liz Schuler ripped a match-high 15 kills for Morehead State.

VCU returns to the floor on Sept. 18-19 when it travels to College Park, Md. for the University of Maryland Invitational. The Rams open with the host Terrapins on Friday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.
