RICH NAMED TO COBRA MAGAZINE NATIONAL THIRD TEAM

RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University senior Ivana Rich (Cumberland, Va.) was recognized as one of the best African American volleyball players in the country in COBRA Magazine’s January 2010 issue.
Rich was selected to the COBRA Magazine All-National Third Team. The magazine is dedicated to the coverage and promotion of volleyball players of African descent.
In 2009, Rich led VCU to a 27-9 mark and CAA Championship Match berth. She set a school record by hitting .332. She also averaged 2.32 kills and 0.85 blocks per set for the Rams. Rich was named All-Colonial Athletic Association Second Team.
A 5-11 middle, Rich also established a new school record for career blocks with 384. Rich’s .284 career hitting percentage is tied for second best in program history, and her average of 0.91 blocks per set ranks seventh. She was also a member of the All-CAA First Team in 2008.
Additionally, Rich has been invited to the USA Women’s Volleyball National Team Tryout at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs Feb. 19-21. |
