RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University could do little to slow down a streaking Northeastern team Friday night in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 26-24) loss at the Alltel Pavilion at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.

The Huskies, winners of eight straight matches, improve to 10-7 and 4-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association. For the Rams, the loss snaps a three-match unbeaten streak and drops them to 10-7 overall, as well as 2-2 in league play.

Junior Ivana Rich (Cumberland, Va.) led VCU with six kills and one block, while senior setter Cat Juson (Long Beach, Calif.) (pictured) added 15 assists and three service aces.

In addition, senior Elisa Kuehnel (Dresden, Germany) recorded five kills to move into third place on  VCU’s all-time list with 1,046.

However, the Rams failed to get on track all night, hitting .127 for the evening, including an .097 mark in the first set. Northeastern hit .278 for the match.

Lauren DeTurk logged a match-high 12 kills and 15 digs for the Huskies, while Britney Brown hit .421 with 10 kills.

VCU returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 11 when it plays host to Hofstra at the Alltel Pavilion at 7 p.m.
