RAMS HEAD TO NEW JERSEY FOR SETON HALL CLASSIC

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Virginia Commonwealth University will take on Arkansas State in the first round of the Anaconda Sports The Rock SHU Basketball Classic Friday at Seton Hall’s Walsh Gymnasium at 8 p.m.

The Rams (1-0) are coming off a season-opening, 72-58 victory over Virginia Tech on Nov. 16 at the Siegel Center. Sophomore Courtney Hurt led five players in double figures with 16 points in that contest.

The Red Wolves are 1-1 following an 80-79 win over Kansas State on Monday. ASU was picked to finish third in the Sun Belt Conference’s West Division in the league’s preseason coaches poll. Arkansas State was 16-14 a year ago. The Rams and Red Wolves have never met.

On the other side of the bracket, host Seton Hall and Morgan State will meet at 6 p.m. The championship and consolation games will be played on Saturday at Walsh Gymnasium.
