WOMEN’S TENNIS SUFFERS FIRST LOSS, 4-3

RICHMOND, Va. – Clemson avenged a narrow loss to Virginia Commonwealth University last season with a 4-3 win Sunday at the Thalhimer Tennis Center.

The loss is VCU’s first of the season. The Rams are 4-1, while Clemson improves to 2-0.

VCU junior Laura Burns raised her record to 7-0 this season, defeating Ina Hadziselimovic, 6-3, 6-1 on the No. 5 singles court. Sophomore Kateryna Yergina and freshman Mihaela Bunea also picked up singles wins for the Rams.
