RAMS FALL TO DUKE AT ITA INDOOR QUALIFIER
1-31-09

DURHAM, N.C. – Freshman Ana Bara picked up a victory at No. 1 singles, but that proved to be the only bright spot for Virginia Commonwealth University in a 6-1 loss to Duke Saturday at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.

VCU slipped to 4-2 with the loss, while ninth-ranked Duke improved to 1-0.

Bara raised her singles mark to 10-4 after defeating 18th ranked Tara Iver, who bowed out in the second set. Bara led, 6-1, 1-0 at the time.

The Rams will return to Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday, Feb. 1 and meet the loser of Saturday’s South Carolina/Ohio State match.
